In order to bring balance to the force Anakin could not have been on the dark side of the force solely because that would have put the dark side on the stronger side since Anakin was supposed to be one of the most powerful Jedi ever. In order to bring balance Anakin would have had to been able to use both the good and dark sides together and had them live in harmony. Not an easy task. Cause lurking out there somewhere are the Siths who have learned to live on the dark side without using its power fully and staying in the shadows

That does sound like balance, and technically I think you would be correct. Unless, you think that even though each side had only two people, the Emperor & Vador were immensly more powerful.
I think each Jedi has the capacity in them to be evil, therefore, a Jedi might be in alignment on their own. Whereas the Sith are pure evil and will never be in alignment on their own.
And who wrote the prophecy? Was the person on the light side that wrote it, if so his point of view would be from the light side. Did the person think only balance could be brought to the force by killing all the Sith?
But, the real question. Lucas actually wrote the prophecy. So what did he intend? I think he thought balance could be obtained only by killing the Sith. and Darth Vador did eventually kill the Sith, (but only after slaughtering all the jedi).

you have a point, He did bring balance to the force, but then with his death and the death of the emperor, he knocked things off balance.
This means there is still a dark side. Although if the force is a natural thing with both light and dark, and exist without a being present, there still is a balance of light and dark, just not in the form of physical beings.
Ok this is way too deep and dorky for me to extend my answer any further. I now feel like my excelent life so far has reached a new low. If my wife finds out, I'll be divorced soon and living with my parents again.

on the time, the Sith (who have been definitely a race who became of course adept to the Darkside) have been all yet extinct. through this, there became an overabundance of (Lightside) Jedi. So, whilst Anakin grew to become a Sith lord, he DID in fact carry stability, because of the fact there became a miles better presence of the Darkside interior the rigidity, balancing out the sunshine and dark aspects of the rigidity via bringing his intensity interior the rigidity to the Darkside. He became believed via the Jedi Council to hold stability via all yet destroying the Darkside. yet, you could not have stability in something with out solid and evil. The Council's very own lack of expertise blinded them to the aforementioned fact. wish this enables!

yea, that's pretty stupid.
a balance in the force would be if both dark and good sides learned to work together and love each other.

and then there was really none
think about it from a religious minset. if there was 100 angels and no demons, that would be "balanced"
but as soon as there is even 1 demon, there is no "balance"
balance to them means all good, no bad.
but you do bring up a good point

to the "good" side, ballance is the total removal (eraceing) of all things that don't fit into thier narrow view, they even see neutrality as evil.
