Is it possible to judge this just by looking at the slot?

The ones I have seen have a round eject button with an X on the end. There might be an EX or EC or a rabbit logo near it.

If you can see clearly into the slot, a PC card connector will run the full width of the slot, and is centered in the slot. A ExpressCard slot has a connector that is 2/3 of the slot width and is one one side of the slot.
