I was thinking about going with AT+T, but it seems that they're texting plans are very lackluster, especially after having penny texting with Virgin Mobile, but alas Virgin mobiles minutes aren't good enough to keep me satisfied either.

Any ideas on what cell phone service I should look into?

You seem to be into texting and you have gotten a lot of opinions but one thing not covered in the other answers is international travel. If you go to Europe, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, South America, Mexico, etc., etc. etc. the ONLY two choices are T-Mobile or AT&T (used to be Cingular) GSM service. Turn on your phone while visiting a remote Caribbean Island and call home, for about $1.50 or so a minute, which is a hell of a lot cheaper than using local land-lines (AT&T).

Someone needs you while you are visiting Venice? They call your number and you will be found, world wide. Here is the world wide GSM coverage

Make sure you get a Quad band phone though, from either company. Most cost little to nothing extra. Oh, you need to sign up (for free in both cases, I think) international service.

Ok, I have Cingular, now AT&T. I love the service i get. The texting my boyfriend and I have is $20 a month each for unlimited texting. Our monthly bill is about $140 a month. If you dont really talk a lot, go with sprint. they have the fair and flexable plan which means you only pay for the minutes you used for that month. (I wish AT&T had this.) Sprint doesn't have a lot of service in places that AT&T has, but the money aspect of it is good. I also had virgin mobile, but they dont get any service in desolate areas. But the money aspect like sprint is awesome.

Well I have t-mobile and it's great for what I need it for. It depends on what you want out of the services. From what I've seen, Cricket has been by far the cheapest and just as reliable as any other cell phone company. They have unlimited minutes and texting so check it out!

Depends on where you live and what your traveling life is like. If you live in an area that's gets their service and don't do a lot of traveling, I would recommend CricKet. I have had them for a long time and love them! I have had no service problems and no phone problems. Unlimited everything?? How can you beat that? Unlimited long distance anytime especially? Plus they offer a wide variety of phones too...I got the SLVR L7c with built in mp3 player. It's awesome

The only advantage I see in AT&T is the iPhone.

I have Sprint, and am a big fan. Nights start at 7, and even with my unlimited texting plan I only pay around 50 bucks a month. I guess it all depends on your region, though.

I think it is totaly up to you, everyone and I mean everyone has some story or another to share about their service carriers - I had cingular for years then went to verizon. I preffer the service, deal I got with verizon over cingular. I don't think anyone of them is without any flaws.. pick the one that suits your needs best !

My rabbits like Sprint. They like the data function. Minute plans are a good value but not sure about the texting.

I've used T-mobile for years and love it. The plans are quite varied, so you should be able to find exactly what you're looking for. :) Good luck!
