The "insurgents" were only part of the ploy, along with the 9-11 tragedy. From the very first day Bush occupied the Oval Office, plans were in place to attack Iraq; all they needed was a plausible excuse. The 9-11 'terrorist' attack and the cave-dwelling members of an 'evil empire' were all the ammunition Bush's handlers needed to unjustifiable, unconstitutionally, illegally and immorally invade another sovereign nation that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States.
The wealthy elitists, industrialists, corporate greedheads, political power brokers and war mongers are the ones who have cost Americans TRILLIONS of dollars plus thousands of unnecessary American soldiers' lives. And it hasn't been to bring democracy to Iraq; it hasn't been to defend America against an 'evil empire'; it hasn't been about establishing peace in the Middle East. It's all been about OIL and WAR PROFITEERING, where a handful of greedy Americans get richer and richer and richer off the backs of gullible American citizens. Democrats or Republicans can't change this corrupt, money-influenced 'war'. If you truly believe we'll pull out of Iraq anytime soon, WHY are we building the largest U.S. embassy in the world on a 104-acre site in downtown Baghdad overlooking the 'new' Iraqi puppet government installed by the Bush administration? If you really think we will not maintain a presence in Iraq for generations, WHY is Halliburton building fourteen (yes - 14) new permanent U.S. military bases in Iraq? We will be in Iraq until we've sucked very drop of OIL from its sands.
Next stop before Bush leaves office: IRAN.....and for the very same reasons: OIL and WAR PROFITEERING. -RKO- 07/19/07

I always wonder how they come calculate "the cost of the war". Is it like a spending "cut" which really means a smaller increase? Welcome to government.
First there is no interest...the government doesn't invest tax dollars. It only spends them. I can see it now...U.S. Government buys Wal-mart stock...ha wouldn't that be great.
There are more then a thousand terrorists. There are millions. There are over 1 billion muslims. If 1 percent are crazed, islamo fasicts then there are 10 million terrorists. Lets see we took on 10 million and have lost 4000 soldiers in 6 years (since 2001)...not bad. Can anyone name a major conflict with this few losses? Anyone? anyone?
Oh they aren't sacrifice[d], they are killed by murdering terrorists.

Easy , the same way it only took 19 idiots hellbent on destruction to carry-out 9/11 . That's the problem young man . Hatred and killing . Hellbent individuals that don't need an escape plan . Their only plan is to kill and die with everyone else . That , my friend , cannot be stopped .
Try joining the military like I did and learn how a very small group of well-trained individuals can take-down an entire country .
Our country could do it too , but we don't send our troops in to die like they do .

America is fighting an invisible enemy, who is ruthless, cunning, and not afraid to die. That is in addition to trying to fight a war with way too many rules.
The problem is, like in Vietnam, there's no way to tell who's a member of a group like al-qaeda and who's just an individual who's angry at the occupation.

You are consistent. Another off the wall question. No one can put a price on freedom. No on can put a price on a life. As long as we keep terrorists from taking over the world, any price is worth it...including your life and/or mine.
