I am afraid so . Those who have never served in the armed forces for this great country, never fought for this country, who have no knowledge of military tactics, operations, means, and / or obligations, are now wanting to tell the professional military leaders how to wage a war. WE LOST 58,209 SOLDIERS AND VIET NAM, WHEN POLITICIANS ( read morons/ idiots/ imbesiles/ PROFESSIONAL FOOLS) ran that war !!!!!!!!!!!! How soon the public forgets!!!!

You mean Democrats like Warner and Lugar:

Another skeptic on the panel is Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, the committee's top Republican. Lugar and Sen. John Warner, R-Va., have drafted legislation that would require Bush to deliver to Congress by mid-October a new military strategy to end major combat.

Lugar said he was concerned that the administration was not planning for an eventual drawdown of troops despite mounting pressure from American voters and politicians that the U.S. should leave Iraq.

"We need to lay the groundwork for alternatives so that when the president and Congress move to a new plan it can be implemented safely and rapidly," Lugar told Crocker.

It seems so. Congressional leaders vowed to wait until September of this year until the appointed general(s) did a re-evaluation of the conflict. Now they are doing what they have been doing all along-re-cycling the same issues! The public spoke loud and clear by e-mail and phone calls to them on the border issue. It is obvious that our elected officials are absorbed in their own idealogy and those of special interest groups. It's all a bit tiring if you ask me.

I used to have full faith in our military. However, the commander in chief only promotes "yes men" to key positions and anybody that disagrees is asked to retire. Are the generals nothing more than puppets told what to say? Sort of like the Surgeon General.

You mean people like retired General Brent Scowcroft, who warned against invading Iraq? Or General Wesley Clark? Sounds like the Dems share their views on this war.

So in fact the Dems are listening to the generals.

No.
All the Generals say that they need more time.
At Least Ten (10) More Years !
And then it's still a "maybe"

Some Generals say it can't be done.
