My baby is 4 months old and I haven't given her anything but breastmilk. She eats every 2 hours and has always had extremely watery bowel movements. Yesterday, my in laws kept her for about 4 hours and said she never whimpered. When they brought her back to me, she wouldn't eat and all evening she was a pill. Finally, she has had a bowel movement and it is a much thicker consistency than I have ever seen before. Do you think she may have been feed something yesterday?

It's possible, but the more likely explanation is that her bowel habits are changing, and it was coincidental that this was the time. Her bowel habits and their consistency will change several times over the next eight or nine months, sometimes longer.

Remember this also: her tummy and BMs are directly affected by what you eat if you're nursing, so think back to what you ate over the last few days - that could have also been a factor.

I wouldn't go making accusations at this point - it'll only snowball into a problem you probably don't need. However, if it becomes a pattern of this happening every time they're with her, I would start asking questions.

I think you should just ask them. I was so conerned about this happening with my 4 month old that I actually had a dream about it. I didnt even realize at the time that it was such a pressing concern. Well, I told "in law" about the dream and she said that she never had. And I took that opportuity to let her know that if she ever ran out of milk, call me and I will come home from work.

So I think you should just casually ask.

But on another note, if my 4 mnth old still ate every two hours I dont know what i'd do.

I don't thing she was fed anything either. As the baby gets older the poo gets thicker. My son didn't even have a bowel movement for a long time because he used everything he had...(breast milk). You could try to give her some prune juice...just a capful and message her tummy. That might help.

No, I don't think she was fed anything.

At around three-months, my baby's poo changed (he's breastfed). It became thicker in consistency - and he stopped going in frequency. He now only goes every few days.

Your baby is better able to digest the breastmilk as she gets older. The bowel movements won't be as seedy and runny anymore.

I don't know what you mean by "all evening she was a pill"?

It sounds to me as if they have given her formula milk.
