It's like any other good story that once passed starts to become popular lore. Americans tend to love a good scandal in the first place. Then when you sprinkle in some political intrigue and a lot of partisanship it becomes to juicy for many to resist. The fact that the story was proved untrue by a GSA audit doesn't really matter because most people either never heard that part, or have chosen to selectively ignore it in favor of the much more juicy myth. Let's face it, truth and politics just make strange bed fellows and rarely do they occupy the same space and time.

It's an absolute fact that she stole things from the White House.
Clintons to return $28,000 in White House furnishings

WASHINGTON -- White House Chief Usher Gary Walters tells CNN that former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton have notified the White House they intend to return $28,000 in furnishings they removed from the White House when moving out in January.
Critics have raised persistent questions about whether removing the furniture was appropriate -- and whether the furniture was a gift to the Clintons or to the White House.
Two of the furniture makers whose donations the Clintons took with him told the Washington Post earlier this week their gifts were part of a widely publicized, $396,000 redecoration of the executive mansion and not meant for Clinton personally.
"When we've been asked to donate, it was always hyphenated with the words, 'White House,"' New York manufacturer Steve Mittman told the Post of his family-owned business, which gave two sofas, an easy chair and an ottoman, worth $19,900 and listed by Clinton as part of the gifts he took with him.

Nice generalization. However, there is no public knowledge about things the Clinton's did not do. How would the public know that? Bad argument. Also, not all cons believe the Clinton's stole things from the white house, although they might have needed the money after the lawyer's fees spent trying to keep his sorry *** in office after the BJ scandal.

What about 'Terrorism is Bill Clinton's fault, because he didn't do anything about it."?
In reality, he bombed Bin Laden's terror camps in '98, but the GOP Congress protested ('No Bombs For Monica", "Wag the Dog") and shut down the government because Clinton cheated on Hillary with a chunky intern.
Freakin' weinies.

It's called propaganda!
Republicans feel the more they repeat a lie, the more people will believe it as truth.
The funny thing about that is, the hard core republicans don't care if it's true or not as long as it gives them ammunition to use against other politicians!

That actually is true, but she later returned the stuff....the ones that crack me up are the Clinton death trail and the Bill randomly raping women posts.

For the same reason that the democrats believe the garbage that spews from the mouths of Pelosi and Reid, when they know for a fact that it is not true.
