I didn't leak and I could have fed an army.

Until 2-5 days after birth you have colostrum which is very thick and sticky and it is very difficult to pump or express, so it also doesn't leak very much. Also before you give birth your hormones inhibit leaking (as much as possible).

During the latter part of pregnancy, the breasts are making colostrum, but high levels of progesterone inhibit milk secretion and keep the volume “turned down”. At birth, the delivery of the placenta results in a sudden drop in progesterone/estrogen/HPL levels. This abrupt withdrawal of progesterone in the presence of high prolactin levels cues Lactogenesis II (copious milk production). Other hormones (insulin, thyroxine, cortisol) are also involved, but their roles are not yet well understood. Although biochemical markers indicate that Lactogenesis II commences approximately 30-40 hours after birth, mothers do not typically begin feeling increased breast fullness (the sensation of milk "coming in") until 50-73 hours (2-3 days) after birth.

I've had 3 children, my breasts never leaked during pregnancy and I breast fed them all with no problem. I'm still exclusively nursing my 8 1/2 month old.

Your milk probably won't come in until about 2-3 days AFTER the baby is born. At tht point, you'll leak like crazy until the feedings are regulated.

I'm 40 years old and I've had 6 children ranging 6 moths to 20 yrs old. Don't worry about your breast milk leaking til the last month of your pregnancy. Besides, your breast milk won't come in till after baby is born. Baby has to suck on it for it to come in and it takes at least a day or two. Hope this answers your question.

Most pregnant women will feel some changes in their breasts. Your breasts will increase in size as your milk glands enlarge and the fat tissue increases, causing breast firmness and tenderness in the first and last few months of pregnancy. Bluish veins may also appear as your blood supply increases. Your nipples will also darken and a thick fluid called colostrum may leak from your breasts. All of these breast changes are normal. Recommendations: 1. Wear a bra that provides firm support. 2. Choose cotton bras or those made from other natural fibers. 3. Increase your bra size as your breasts become larger. Your bra should fit well without irritating your nipples. Try maternity or nursing bras, which provide more support and can be used after pregnancy if you choose to breastfeed. 4. To ease discomfort and maintain support, try wearing a bra during the night and day. 5. Tuck a cotton handkerchief or gauze pad into each bra cup to absorb leaking fluid. Nursing pads, which you can buy in a pharmacy, are also available. Make sure to change these pads as needed to prevent irritation to the underlying skin. 6. Clean your breasts with warm water only; do not use soap or other products since they can cause dryness.

hey there, congrats on your pregnancy =)
just because they havent been leaking isnt really the case that you wont be able to breast feed. you dont start producing milk till roughly bout 3days after the baby arrives anyway.
have patience, it will come. Everyone is different in many ways when it comes to pregnancy =)

I have three children and my breasts never leaked during pregnancy. My milk didn't come in until after they were born and had nursed a few times. It will be fine.

It's completely normal not to leak during pregnancy. I do, but none of my friends ever did and have all breastfed successfully. Don't worry about it, it'll come right after you give birth. Just be happy that you haven't had to use nursing pads yet since you'll have to use them a lot after you give birth. Good luck

Leaking breasts only affect some pregnant women. It has no bearing on what will happen after you deliver. You should be just fine to breastfeed. Good Luck!!
