Take a paper grocery bag and place it over the wax. Take you iron (on very low) and run it on top of the paper bag. Keep close watch on it or the carpet will burn.

After you scrape off the excess, put a paper towel on the stain and run an iron over it. It will melt the wax and the paper towel will soak it up. You'll probably have to repeat the process with a clean paper towel several times, but it will eventually get rid of the wax.

Lay a very absorbent paper towel or brown paper bag over the stained area. Set your iron to its highest setting, and without touching the paper towel, hover the iron less than an inch away and steam through the paper towel. Using a putty knife, press the paper towel against the stain. Repeat this process as needed. Eventually all of the wax should soak up into the paper towel.

Use the iron and paper bag (see Mary B answer) BUT, if there is a large chunck of wax, first freeze it with an icecube and scrape as much of it off as you can. This will keep the big stuff from making a larger spot when you use the iron.

grab about 5 or 6 brown paper lunch sacks and a washcloth. place the bags on top of the spot and the washcloth over that. put your iron and set it on hot and dry and go over the spot for about 1 minute. when you lift up the paper the wax should have melted into the bags. if there is still some left, do it a little more. i used this method on my wedding dress and you can't even tell. you can also use newspaper.

Been there. Freeze and scrap off as much as possible. Then do the iron and bag (or old rag) trick. In the future, why not consider a candle that cleans up with hot, soapy water. If you would like information, email me. barbara@mycandlefarm.com
