OKAY First i have to say that your "Marie is to spanish as Hussien is to Muslim" analogy may make sense (although i am pretty sure Marie is the English equivalent of the Spanish Maria) it isnt really the same. Spanish is a nationality or Race, Muslim is a religion...completely different.
It is my personal opinion that race, religion, gender, sexual orientationor any other personal information (that by the way would be illegal to be used as a disqualifier for any other job than president...) should be disregarded when casting a vote...A persons race isnt relevant to whether of not they can get the job done.
I think Obama would be a great president, but he should have waited until Hilary was done..I am not saying She should win, only that the Clintons dont fight fair (which is why the person who SHOULS be running, Gore, isnt).
I think there are still racists out there who cont fathom anyone other than a old, white, man running the country.
Fox news (although extermemly entertaining) is B.S.
and i have already given on opinion of Clinton...
and i dont think Hussien has anything to do with Muslim...my nephew is named Hussien and he is a black christian. In todays society, people dont pick names based on religion or gender all the time...some people just pick a name they like...
All that being said, i wish Obama all the luck in the world and i hope he wins. White men have been screwing the country up long enough ... lets see what someone else can do!

It's because of his name sounding like "Osama." He talks about it briefly in his book, "The Audacity of Hope." I haven't yet finished the book, but it happens pretty early on if you want to check it out. When the bin Laden thing happened, he and his workers realized the similarities, but also saw that it was too late to come up with a nickname or something since was already in the public eye.
Barack Obama does sound like a MidEast name. And, even if he was MidEastern or Muslim (which he isn't), I personally don't see what the big deal would be. We already have a large Muslim population in this country, and I can guarantee that the majority of them are NOT terrorists and NOT anti-American. We are starting to sound like we did during WWII, with the Japanese internment camps--since they're Japanese (even multiple generation American ones!), they are our enemies and must be locked away! Do we ever learn?
I believe he has some Muslim background. He is Baptist. I have some Native American background, and that doesn't mean I go around scalping people, as Native Americans are all stereotyped to have done by school history classes. He isn't going to go around blowing people up for no reason.
Since my name is Sam, does that make me male?

I would say there is some of #1, 2 (the uneducated part, not the Fox news part) and 3 .
I am just not sure what the man's philosophy and vision are for America. His is not the longest track record to see what he would do as a Commander In Chief.
His religion, or what some CLAIM his religion is, does not matter to me.

To the points. 1) fear of a black president, blacks have never advanced to positions of power in the Democrat party, most republicans would gladly see Condi Rice in the white house
2)Fox news reported that the Clinton campaign released stories of Obama attending a madrases, but also pointed out that Obama is not a Muslim(your irrational fear of the truth that comes from FOX news not withstanding)
3) Yes, the Hillary hit machine is just getting warmed up, if Obama has any chance at all Clinton will stop at nothing to smear him, and then try and shift the blame to Conservatives(which accounts for your erroneous second point, she got you)
I am none of the above, I would never consider voting for Obama, he being a liberal and all.

Barak Obama's father was a Muslim and his half siblings from his father’s side are Muslims. According to his books, he had no religious affiliation until he realized that he needed one to get ahead in politics. At that point, he looked around and saw that being Christian was the best (politically) so he went that way. If religious affiliation is important to you at all, stay away from Obama. He is a politician and only believes in winning the election.

Last time I checked, Obama is not a Muslim and Fox News has not claimed that Obama is a Muslim. This is just the usual election mis-information that we will be seeing a lot of over the next year and a half.

Obama is a Christian--Congregationalist, to be specific.
His father was an immigrant from Kenya, whre the names are common.
The first two of your pints are correct. Probably not the third. Some staffers in the Clinton campaign did try to issue some related tripe--but as it stands, Hillery herself put a stop to it (wise--ethics aside, she's not stupid enough to risk discrediting herself like that).
Primarily this is coming from the right wing-where is where most of the racists are. A black person as a credible candidate is their worst nightmare--even more than a credible candidate who is a woman!
Clinon/Obama for 2008!

You are correct on all counts.
Last I checked. Obama refers to himself as Christian, and attends a Christian church (I'm not sure which denomination).
And blaming him for having a middle name that's common among a hundred million other people is like someone who hates guns being opposed to someone named "Smith", because someone named Smith founded Smith and Wesson. It's purely irrational.
