They're sociable fish and prefer to be in groups of 5+ so you do need a large tank as they will attain 6"+ easily, rounded gravel is fine just so long as there's no sharp edges to damage there barbels/whiskers.
When buying buy the largest you can afford as they're less susceptible to white spot, small fish 1-2" tend to get white spot as soon as you put them in your tank.

Clown Loaches are avid sifters so they would much prefer sand. Their whiskers can be damaged by sharp corners, so if you have to use gravel, get the smallest, smoothest size you can. Clown Loaches also get about a foot long (sometimes longer) and require groups (4+). This sets them up for a tank of 125+ gallons. Sand will encourage their natural behavior.

Sure. Get gravel large enough for them to clean the gravel with their whiskers. They love doing that in the tanks I've had.

yep, choose the smallest gravel you can and don't use and undergravel filter. they do get big but they grow very slowly, a 75 should be good for a long while, and get at least 4 of them

Yes, you can. I'd say about 1/8 of an inch would be the best.
