A woman ovulates 14 days after her last period starts. You usually know you are ovulating when your temperature goes up, you get cramps or you have a lot of CM.

Many women have signs and symptoms of ovulation that they can learn to identify. Then it becomes a matter of keeping a monthly record to recognize the pattern, depending on why you need to be aware about when or whether ovulation is occurring (ie, to get pregnant or to avoid getting pregnant w/o using contraception by abstaining from intercourse during ovulation, which is doable but requires discipline, timing, and proper training from a medical reproductive health professional). Generally (but not always or precisely) ovulation occurs about 12 days after menstruation ("midcycle"). Temperature will increase by a few degrees and vaginal secretions may become albuminous (having the look and consistency of raw egg white). This might last about a week and is a conspicuous sign of ovulation and fertility. When this type of discharge passes, vaginal secretions become more viscous (more thick and greasy than watery). When this change occurs, the woman's fertility potential will be over for that monthly cycle, and in about another 10 days, menstruation will begin and the cycle will start all over.

you probably cannot but she can ..
There are a number of ways a woman can try to detect when she is ovulating; however the accuracy and reliability of methods vary.
In the past, basal body thermometers have been popular. These allow a woman to chart her temperature during her cycle and watch for changes to indicate ovulation. They can be used successfully but require more work than other methods and can sometimes be inaccurate.
More recently, urine ovulation predictor kits have become available at affordable prices. These monitor the body for certain hormones that increase as ovulation approaches. They are very accurate and are especially helpful for women whose ovulating cycle varies a lot.
Also available to find out when you are ovulating are ovulation scopes. These allow women to check a saliva sample for distinct patterns that should occur only during ovulation. These are also very accurate but can be more difficult to use.

sorry, as a guy you can't tell when a women is ovualting. If you are trying to know when your wife is, if you keep an eye through the month, a women wants sex more when ovualting. Will be more to want it than normal. As for so one that you don't live with that would be impossible to know. Good luck!

You don't - see most likely doesn't either. Only accurate way is to take a test.
