Yes and I didn't have insurance.
Buying all new stuff was a pain in the neck and it was expensive. Learned that lesson the hard way.

When I was younger we lived in Scituate,MA right on the water and we got flooded out a lot! Several times we had to be rescued in boats since our road was under water! For a little kid it was kind of cool because we got to stay in shelters and hang out with lots of people. For my mom, it was awful. She was a single mother with 7 kids and no support from my father so it was really hard for her to make ends meet as it was. We rented so didnt really lose our house but, we lost appliances a few times. We didnt have flood insurance so had to try to get new stuff or used stuff from friends and relatives.
