No. He wants to be, but it takes a long time to be approved when buying an MLB club. You put in applications to get permission to make bids to possibly buy. It's complicated when selling franchises in sports.

Plus, the older money may not want the new money as part of their special club.

No, the Cubs are currently owned by the Tribune Company. However, Mark Cuban has turned in an application to be considered as a possible owner in the future.

Not yet, but he did submit an application about three and a half weeks ago to purchase the team. They will announce this all over Sportscenter once it becomes official. I think it'll be great for the Cubs because Cuban is a free-spender and he'd do anything necessary to bring in the talent they need to win a championship. Kinda like George Steinbrener did with the Yankees.

The Chicago Tribune Company is the owner of the Cubs. They have announce they intend to sell the team and Wrigley Field at the end of the season to the highest bidder. Mark Cuban filed papers with Major League Baseball to be one of the bidders for the team. There will be at least 5 or 6 other bidders.

Wouldn't it be fun to see him as the owner. It would bring back memories of Bill Veeck.

No, and he never will. I realize the average Cub fan is too stupid to understand this, but a new owner must go through a rigorous screening process and be approved by the other owners and the commissioners office. The last thing they want is a nut case like Cuban.

No, he has just applied to the bidding which will take place at the end of the year. The Cubs are being sold becasue Zell only wants the tribune and is going to sell everything else that the tribune owns

Last I heard he was still only a potential owner of the Cubs and no decision had been made yet. That was as of Friday. If there is something more recent out there I have no heard it yet.

No. He just applied to own them. They probably will block him from buying the team.
