Go to a garden center and see what's in flower. Most quality garden centers will have containers pre-planted that are stunning displays and can make quite the impression immediately. Remember to keep them watered so that you can get the most from your containers.

In my opinion you cannot beat ornamental grasses for curb appeal. They look lush and graceful, are inexpensive, can be planted any time, thrive in a variety of shade/sun situations, tolerate a variety of poor/rich/moist/dry soil, and some are even evergreen!
I use "monkey" grass and boulders in my front yard for curb appeal. Boulders don't have to be planted, can be moved around, and don't die! Add a birdbath or some type of vertical yard ornament for vertical "interest", and you have almost instant, inexpensive curb appeal.

If you want flowering items you can never go wrong with Vincas. They are similar to impatients but are much hardier. They love hot and dry weather. If it doesn't rain I water my Vincas but if we have had a good amount of rain I never touch them. They come in a variety of colors and spread nicely.

Not sure where you live (?) but.....Go to your local garden store--Home Depot and Lowe's have most of their plants reduced or half price.
They have alot of colorful annual and perennials plants that are in bloom.
Get some red and pink lilies, bright colored purple, pink and red petunias, small shrubs, etc.,etc.
Check it out. They have loads of plants and ideas
