You can include me. I have not read a word, I prefer to read non-fiction, and I have no desire to read the books either.
I have seen one or two of the movies, they seem to do a fair job of presenting this magical children's tale to children and adults alike. There seems to be few other books or authors discussed here at the moment, and my (non-Harry Potter related)Books & Author question drew a single response - "nope" was the best she could reply...

Don't worry, you are not the only one out there, even though it seems as if everyone can't talk about anything else but. The closest I have come to the Harry Potter phenomena is catching about 15 minutes of the first movie on cable last year.... I got bored rather quickly.
While I am not in anyway putting down the talent of the author or the quality of the books, I do think people tend to over-hype it a bit. I'm sure the books are good, but being a voracious reader since I was 5, I can safely say I have read a large variety of literature, and the HP books are not anything too spectacular. I personally think people see it as the trendy thing to do now, and so everyone has to jump on the band-wagon. But that is just me! If anyone thinks otherwise, please let me know! I'm glad to hear different opinions. I am always a learning fool.... = )

Socrates

well i read the first 4 books but then she took forever to come out with the 5th book and i forgot what happened and i had no desire at all to reread all the other books over just to know what was going on. I am extremely tired of HP questions taking over 80% of Yahoo Answers as i'm sure you are as well. They need to make a Harry Potter section on the left side of the site so they can be kept together....

May I ask why? I mean, if you've never read one word of it, how do you know you don't like it? I'm an adult, a librarian, I usually prefer non-fiction, but I find the books to be very well-written and well-plotted.
But, I do understand. I never watch Jim Carrey movies and have no desire to.

I can't go that far.
I've read fantasy for 35 years, so it was due a fair try.
After two volumes, I realised it was derivative, technically unsatisfying and relatively poorly written. I didn't bother with any more.
There's just much better reading around.

I haven't read them - its not my thing. But, I am glad to see that there are so many kids (and adults) getting interested in reading ... Reading is a healthy thing to do, and not enough teens do it these days. I'm glad that something like this can spark their interest.
