I hear Kennedy was good.
Bush jr is the worst ever.
Reagan stunk.

Most historical figures were just cases of the right place at the right time. Any president would have done essentially what Lincoln did. When FDR was elected the country was primed for someone to step in and make sweeping reforms. Yes the both did great things and should be honored for it, but for all we know someone else might have done an even better job.
George Washington is an exception. He was a great leader, both in war and politics. That's a rare thing. In recent memory we haven't had any great leaders, just professional politicians. Washington kept the revolution on track through years of terrible obstacles. He could have quit many times and no one would have blamed him. Most Presidents who do great things are in a position to do the best they can. They don't have a choice to quit or ignore the situation.
The thing that puts Washington over the top is his idealism. He was offered the chance to found a dynasty. I don't know how much of this is taught in classrooms these days, but he could have been the first king of America. He believed in the idea of democracy and we can thank him for everything since. What would have happened over the next 200 hundred years is anybodies guess, but this country would be a much different place. Not many people would have passed up that kind of power for themselves and their families. Certainly no other President would have.

those who picked Clinton must like presidents that have ruined the country.
Clinton Depleted the military
missed his chance at bin ladin, which makes him partly responsible for 9/11,
lied under oath after playing a little game of balls on chin in the oval office
stole furniture and damaged the white house when they left.
Pardoned several crooks (Bush didn't even pardon Libby) he commuted the sentence but Libby will still do some time.
So how was Clinton the best??
I liked Reagan the best. Maybe Lincoln since he freed the slaves and all, that makes him a good man.
Everyone hates Bush now, but just wait History will show the actually truth, and how important Iraq is not only to the Iraqi people, but to us and our allies
. Once everyone settles down they will be acting like they were for this war the whole time.

Probably FDR, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Despite being horrendously rich, he helped the underclasses, the working poor, immigrants, blacks. He created work for people during the depression. Eleanor Roosevelt was probably the first First Lady to be involved as she was , she set an example for other First Ladies to excell.
Plus FDR, even though his disability was hidden from the public , was the first president to serve with an obvious disability.
He was a role model to millions of people around the world who contracted polio that disabled people could indeed achieve if given equal opportunity. That wouldn't happen today with the presidential races, people can't accept black candidates or women candidates, they probably wouldn't accept a disabled one either.

Well there are two most prominent presidents the US ever had. Without them, the US would not be like this as of right now. George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

The best was George Washington. Lincoln is a close second.
Theodore Roosevelt though is my favorite. He was a good one too. As was Reagan.
JFK was a good guy but other than the Cuban missile crisis he did little. He wasn't bad but didn't do great things either. He just made folks feel optimistic.

Toss up, George Washington or Abe Lincoln
Either could have chose to let the union die, Washington could have been king, but chose not to, Lincoln could have destroyed the south, but did not. Both were great presidents

1) Washington - set the mold
2) Lincoln - held the country together during its most trying times
3) FDR - helped bring about the economic recovery, but took a little too long in getting into WWII
4) Reagan - I know a lot of folks out there revile him, but conservative or not, helped bring back America's self-respect
5) Jefferson - bought half the country, need I say more?

In my opinion, FDR. He was elected to four terms, he pulled this country out of The Great Depression, and led us to victory
in WWII, all the while without th use of his legs.
