I think most PEOPLE are illogical and overly emotional - not just women. Women just express themselves more, and men, although emotionally driven as well, hide it.

The same query could be placed for any number of subjects, because of the word "seem", and every such query could be answered : because you are seeing it from YOUR perspective.
YOUR perspective may differ marginally or wildly from that of other people, or it could be anywhere in between, but it always will be normal to you, because it is yours. This raises another question: Are you correct or incorrect? The answer to this must also be one that responds to perspective.
Cognitive differences between men and women are minimal, if they are provided identical subject matter, and in the same order/means of presentation.
That said, many women will be able to deliver the same result as men, but often add a variable that escapes most men, because they apply their thoughts in a slightly different manner, and/or the logic pattern within the brain has different routes.
Contrary to popular opinion, logic is not an engraved-in-stone process, but a highly adaptable method of thought application, wherein imagination often plays a large role, one which is sometimes referred to as intuition. It is this step that tends to take the process to another level, as without it the process would very often stall and progress would be very slow, or halt.
It is in this area that the differences between the sexes becomes more pronounced. As has been mentioned, women are "wired" differently, and the enhanced interaction between the hemispheres within the brain permits them to reach what might otherwise be unexpected, but accurate, conclusions ahead of men.
Accept the differences, and try to see things from another perspective. It could change yours.
Of course, all of the above is from a male perspective: my own.

Logic always has to have a goal. Why figure anything out? Because you want something. Emotion or human needs is at the basis of it all. Men tend to FOCUS more on physical needs. But believe me, the emotional needs are still there. It's just that most men are unaware of it. Think of how you feel trading in your 69 Camaro for a mini-van. The mini-van is more logical and practical right?
There seems to be this idea floating around out there that logic is it's own entity with its own values and is perfect and independent of human beings. Sound a little like God to you? This is silly. It's a human tool, used by humans so humans can better fufill their basic human needs. Like denial, finding food, finding a mate, making babies, figuring out how to blow my enemy to tiny bits, and so on.

Depends on the women and men you are with-I grew up around pretty stoic people-neither the women or the men showed a lot of emotions and both genders were very practical. Sounds like a typical gender stereotype, which doesn't apply to most women.

Traditionally women have been allowed to show their emotions. Men (although they are just as emotional as women) were forced to hide their emotions. If a man was caught crying, he would have been considered a sissy or mentally unstable. Men now are just starting to reveal their true emotions publicly. Since this so, women would seem to be more illogical and overly emotional. But there are a lot of men like that as well.

why does it seem like some men (you ) are just ignorant jerks? Have nothing better to do than slag women off i guess? bored are you? Mummy wouldn't let you dress up in her clothes anymore? ( i would say there's a lot of logic behind that)
Overly emotional? women are just not scared of showing emotion, that's the difference.

Geez, the ignorance of some of the women here is laughable. Yet again, they choose to ignore science. The fact that so many women clicked the 'thumbs up' on the most vacuous and illogical answers only reinforces this. Other than that, it's just shaming language and petty insults; this is typically employed when they have nothing to argue. This type of behaviour, which is reminiscent of a bratty childs', is so typical of women. It surely isn't indicative of being a 'strong, independant woman' though, that's for sure. Nonetheless, understand this: women's brains ARE NOT the same as men's!
I've pasted as a response a few times, but I'll do it once again: women have a highly developed corpus callosum (the section of the brain which facilitates communication b/w the two sides of the brain). The brain is divided into 2 hemispheres - the left side is the site of all logical thought, and the right side is the center of all emotional thought. So women have more connective tissue b/w the two sides than men. What does this mean? it means that women process stimuli with both sides of the brain more so than men do. In practice, we see this all the time as women place a heavy emotional subtext on virtually all stimuli they perceive. In fact, one could very effectively argue that emotions are detrimental to decision making as they often times conflict with logical thought. So having more communication b/w the logical side and emotional side of the brain does not necessarily mean its a good thing, as far as objective decision making is concerned.
Here's a few links that support this argument:
"Men are hard-wired differently," explains David .Powell, PhD, president of the International Center for Health Concerns, who explains that the connection between the left brain, home of logic, and the right, the seat of emotions, is much greater in women. "
"Women operate more from the right side of their brain. The right side of the brain is more emotional. Men are usually stuck in the left side of their brain. The left side of the brain is more logic oriented."
"The left side of the body controlled by the right brain is considered female and the right side controlled by the left brain is considered male"
