Hi Kate I am so pleased you have managed to stop self-harming. Keep it up! I think you will just have to be patient and let your body heal. I think you should keep your arms well moisturised and try to leave the scars alone. I know when you have an operation the surgical scar may take a good few months to fade and perhaps your scars are siimilar. My daughter had laser treatment for her acne scars and it worked really well, though expensive at about £100 a time and she needed about three treatments. This is something you can sometimes get on the NHS through your doctor, if he is sympathetic. It may be worth having a word with him. You have to wait until the scars are fairly healed before they are able to treat them in this way. The treatment is fairly painless, just feels a little warm on your skin when it is being done and afterwards for a couple of days. Good luck!

I am astounded by the crass answer from one replier...I have never self-harmed but two of my family harmed themselves severely with devastating results.I am very pleased to learn that you are now feeling better....the use of the gel patches in combination with the Bio oil will work, but also ask your doctor about corrective skin graphs if the scars are really severe. I wish you lots of luck for the future and hope that you will see the world through happier eyes in future. Hugs & kisses xXx

depending on where the scars are, and how old the scar, the scars will go from red to white and there are many good camouflage make up that cover up scars and blemishes and the good news is some are on prescription.well done and congratulations for being brave and strong, good luck for the future.
