my 4- coated pictus is 3yrs previous he's 8 inches long and 3 inches thick. He is living in a eighty gallon with 3 parrot fish, and a leporinus, and a pair of infant albino pangasuis cats. HOw huge can they advance, would be particularly via how lots area they have in a tank being the gallons themselves and the different fish living with him. I even have 8 tanks beginning from a hundred twenty five gallons fifty 5's, my eighty so as some adult men get huge i will flow them right into a greater spacious tank. in case you want your pictus to prevail in 10-12 inches you will would desire to verify he has 20-25 gallons of water only for him, different than for different fish. for each inch of physique length supply him 2-3 gallons of water at a min. solid success. ingesting different small fish is achieveable, i used to have great danios in that tank. :)

Here's an article on Pictus Catfish.

It does mention that Pictus Catfish are known to be voracious with their appetites.

Yes, they will eat most fish that fit in their mouths. Do not feed them feeder fish though, they often carry parasites and diseases, even if they don't look sick. Frozen bloodworms are a much safer source of protein for your Pictus. Good luck!

LIFE CYCLE
lol yea your right any fish will eat fish smaller than them some just make it more fun to watch like some like to play with their food but dont get it hooked on them feeders are expensive and sometimes once they eat fish they wont want to go back to regular food so feed them fish for one meal and fish food for another but dont go to the pet store go to your local fish supply store they will have guppies and they are by law not supposed to have paracites. thats a little insurane

thats true for most fish....as they are opportunistic. feeders are not a good choice though for A. they carry disease and B. they will also not give the fish enough nutrition.

it is true, in fact it's true for most fish. just about any fish will eat anything it can fit in it's mouth. you don't hear about it with tetras and the like because their mouths are too small to fit most other fish!

They will eat fry and fish the size of neon tetras but for the most part are peaceful.
Here is a porfile of them with some suggested tank mates listed:http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=276

Yes, it is true, and they don't have to be much smaller either - though top and mid dwelling fish tend to be relatively safe.

absolutely, catfish, especially ones with whiskers are predators, once they are large enough to fit a rosey red in their mouths, i assume they might try to eat it, especially at night
