I have been reading about a polar shift of 45 degrees because of the planets alignment with the sun in 2012.This only happens every 25,000 yr. or so. Also this date is the end of the Mayan calendar, and the return of planet x crossing our path in the solar system. To me it seems the way the world is going everything in life is at full circle. And the world is way over due for some type of renewal threw a natural cataclysmic event !

All that is just wrong. There is no "polar shift of 45 degrees". There may be a magnetic pole reversal some time in the next few thousand years, but it won't happen in 2012 or even happen so suddenly as to take place in a single year. And it has nothing to do with "the planets alignment with the sun in 2012". I don't even know what it means to say "the planets alignment with the sun". Would that mean they all lined up so you could draw a line from the Sun to Pluto and have all the planets on that line? If so, that is not going to happen in 2012, or any time in the next million years.

The Mayan calendar is no more of a predictor of the future than the Egyptian calendar or our own Gregorian calendar. It is just a calendar. Nothing special will happen in 2012.

No. Earth has been in orbit around the sun for about 4.5 billion years, and you think that this is the first instance in all that time that there has been a planetary alignment? No way, dude.

This is just more pseudo-scientific garbage that ignorant people get all excited about, and then when it passes, they say, "Ooops, wrong year, it's really going to happen in . . ."

We had another big alignment a few years ago (I don't recall exactly when), but all the doom-and-gloomers were saying that life would end during that alignment. And you know what happened? Nothing. Nada. The planet is still here, so don't sweat it in 2012 either.

I thought the world ended on Y2K, then again on June 6, 2006 (6-6-06). So yea, it probably will end on 12-21-20 too. I am getting sick of the world ending all the time.

Hi. No to your question, and I agree that nature has a way of stopping the 'experiment' periodically and starting over.
