Can you go to the park in the early morning hours, say 8-10AM before the sun gets the play equipment too hot?
You might want to try some early morning walks around the block or neighborhood. My 5-year-old daughter loves collecting recycling with me, so we take walks around the neighborhood all the time. We know all our neighbors, so now she can play with the kids or get invited to swim in the pool at the apartments down the street.
Can you get a small wading pool for your yard? Do you have a yard? Can the kids run through the sprinklers?
Have you been to the library yet? Most libraries have "Story Time" where the librarians read books to the kids. They are also great places to get information on playgroups.
You might want to check out the news publications at the popular kids clothing boutiques in the wealthy neighborhoods. They usually have advertisements and information on playgroups and special events at the local parks.
Your parks and recreation department will also have information on free events at community parks and local pools. Our town has a free movie day at the mall theatre where we can watch movies like "March of the Penguins" and "Open Season" and "Charlotte's Web" for free.
You can play things like "Who are the people in your neighborhood" and show the boys where things are located on a map, such as the fire station, the post office, the park, and such. My daughter loves maps, and we love finding things on the map. We also love going to the post office and learning about what happens to the mail (A good book on this is "What Do People Do All Day" by Richard Scarry)
And don't forget swimming lessons! Everyone should learn how to swim - even mommies!
Have fun!

for the 2 year old he's a good game I saw on a show.
Take some things like blocks, toy cars, rubber duckys, and set them in a circle on a table. This game is called memorie have them closed there eyes, and then when you take one have them open them up. They have to tell you what is missing. It's a good game for concentration especially at a younger age.
