Make a paste with Bon Ami cleanser. The non-scratch formula won't mess up the windshield, while the hard water marks will be removed. Then rinse with soft water and squeegee clean.

Use a none abbrasive car polish and very fine steel wool,yes steel wool,no it won't scratch the windshield,after you have done that you will need to remove the wax,a good window cleaner will do that something like windex.

I use a product called MX-7. It works on glass and on painted surfaces to remove water spots. I also use Rain-X on all the glass surfaces and that seems to help reduce the amount of water spots.
