Yo-Yo Loaches for sure! They are very active, intelligent, peaceful fish that leave all of my slow Black Skirt Tetras alone. The Yo-yos always chase each other around the tank (not nipping though). It is like they are playing tag, they swim through the plants and decorations and dodge the other fish. They played a game with my Rainbow Shark too, he had his special little flower pot and he wouldn't let any other fish into it, so the Yo-yos would swim up to it as a group and pass right in front of the entrance. Right as the Shark jumped out to scare them away, they would all scatter in different directions, regroup, and do it again. If you keep 5 of them together, you will see a more energetic fish. They stay about 4 inches, so you could still have other fish in the tank (a school of Tetras, Killifish, peaceful Barbs, or Danios). Dwarf Gouramis are also fun fish. Make sure you research each type of fish before buying it! Good luck!

incredibly i do no longer evaluate which you ought to get some ingredient out of a 29 gallon FW tank in case you have already got a 50. There are some smaller cichlids, and that i'd flow alongside with a pair quite than a trio. I had a 55g FW and when I have been given a 29 cube, quite than make one greater FW tank, I made a SW tank with gobys, corals, and clownfish. via no skill grew to alter into decrease back. once you're keeping the 50 in reliable wellbeing, I strongly recommend testing a saltwater tank. A 29g SW isn't any greater desirable high priced to maintain than a 50 gallon FW, tremendously in case you strongest flow alongside with fish and liverock, and a few shrimp and crabs. There do no longer look extremely any great fish you will could put in a 29 gallon incredibly, a team of small showy fish is relatively greater suited in spite of which approach you flow.

laeopard ctenopoma, does not do good with really little fish but whould be fine with fish bigger than like 3 inches. buenos ares tatras, emperor tetras, congo tetras, penguin tetras, gold barbs, tiger barbds, angelfish
and it does good with any fish not big enough to eat it bichirs, smaller cichlids, other ctenopomas, african butterflyfish, BGK for a while, etc

or a pair of dwarf puffers, male and female in a very heavily planted tank

I like Black Ghost Knife, but they wouldn't fit into a 29 gallon tank. I'd make that tank an angelfish tank if I had that size.

angel fish or any peaceful cichlid like a rainbow or cutteri should do nicely and have great colors. they can be mildly aggressive but should do fine in a well populated community aquarium
