I have so much problems with the car I drive right now, and don't want to spend any more money to fix it. I had been and still spend so much money to fix this car the one I have. However, I find a nice car for me, but don't want to jump in to the other peice of junk from the one I already have. Please help me decide if this is a good deal or a good car!!
2001 Dodge Intrepid 6 cylenders automatic and everything works, $3800.00 / 54,000 miles.

Personally, for a used car I would purchase a Japanese branded vehicle that is assembled in Japan (you can tell this is the case if the first letter of the VIN is J) In my opinion those cars have the best reliability records.

Also, mileage and model year are not as important as maintenance performed. For example, if that 2001 Dodge has a lot of worn components and a poor maintenance record, I think it is a poor buy compared to an older car with more miles and better maintenance.

I would look for an Infiniti G20, it is one of the most reliable vehicles on the used car market. Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura cars are very reliable as well. I have seen some older Lexus ES300 for sale at a similar price you are mentioning.

I think you should look at other cars, and not purchase the one.

What car do you own now? Is it per chance a Dodge Intrepid? You should say where you are (so someone could do a search) and let us know what is you budget for the 'new' car, or what size car you need.
Like others have said, the Dodge may not be the best option you have for that money. However if you know the owner and you're confident about the condition, go for it.
Good luck

If it has a 2.7 litre engine it, do not buy it. These engines are always going bad, blowing up, etc. If it has that 3.2 or 3.3 litre or whatever litre it is called that is the good motor, But if it is a 2.7 you wont find a used one anywhere, and the parts are very expensive to fix it. Trust me its not worth your time.

If it doesnt have the 3.3 or the 3.5 stay away - the other engine has severe head problems
