I'm not sure I want anyone so uptight as to have never even tried a joint to run my country!

I think the whole issue of have they used drugs, were they promiscuous, who did they hang out with-all of that is stupid. I honestly would rather have someone in office who has personal experience (and is honest about it) with making bad decisions. I think people are more empathic to others when they can relate to their situations personally. God, maybe if we could get someone in office who had done drugs they wouldn't be locking up all of these petty drug offenders and be doing something to help instead.

Those who tried drugs when younger, enjoyed it and carried on to this day together with those who tried it and carried on but did not pretend to have given it up just to advance their political careers.
Would we be better off? Have you seen the state of the Tube and the Metronet debacle?!

Those who were too scared to try a new perspective, which in my mind makes people singularly unsuited to the business of running a multifaceted society.
I very much doubt that we'd be better off. Come to think of it, it probably wouldn't be that much different, with the whole taboo around the subject.

The United States was the creation of men who believed that each person has the right to do what he wants with his own life as long as he does not interfere with his neighbors' pursuit of happiness the problem is when his neighbor's idea of happiness is persecuting others, and that is what it should be illegal.

First of all not everyone has tried drugs, I haven't but I have no desire to run for public office. People are stupid when they are young and that shouldn't be held against them for the rest of their lives, should it?

If it is in the past I don't see the problem. Mind you if Gordon Brown develops a coke habit that wouldn't help the proper governance of the country.

Fewer Republicans. No Democrats.
Trying drugs in youth is not much of an indicator.
