An easy test of Bromine Water, the original colour of the Bromine water is Brown, but when added to an alkene it turns colourless, Never put clear on a test paper, Clear is the incorrect term. When Bromine Water is added to Alkanes however because they are saturated (No double bond, All space filled with carbons) it stays brown.
