Hey there!

Ionization is a process of converting an atom into an ion, by changing the difference between the number of protons and the number of electrons. Ionization really depends upon the charge of the ion.

Ions are postively charged, when an atom loses an electron.
Ions are negatively charged, when an atom gains an electron.

We could know that by simply looking in the periodic table.

There are many types of ionization.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ionization, the two types of ionization are known as sequential and non-sequential ionization.

There are also tunnel ionization, positive ionization and negative ionization.

Since they came from wikipedia, I'm pretty sure that it is fake. Check the source for more information.

Hope it helps!
