I'd be surprised, but it's not as crazy as it sounded a month ago. The M's are riding a serious hot streak at the same time as the Angels have gone cold.
My belief, though, is that the Angels are the stronger team and will show that by eventually pulling away. Seattle will be left to fight for the wildcard with the Tigers/Indians/Yankees (or Sox!), which is a tough proposition.
They're definitely impressing me lately, though.

Yes that is crazy. Whoever said that has lost their mind. Everyone knows that the Yankees are going to win the World Series! And even if something terrible was to happen and the Yankees didn't win the Mariners certainly wouldn't be the team to step up and pull out the win. And as for the guy that called the Yankees the team from the "evil empire" he's just jealous that whoever his team is couldn't play with the Yankees if the Yankees had their hands tied, get a life man seriously. Do us all a favor and find something better to do. I'm not an ***, I'm just a die-hard Yankees fan.

It would be crazier if somebody said the Yankees would make the playoffs.
I think the Mariners have a shot at playoffs, but they wont catch the Indians/Tigers in the Wild Card race. Even if they do they wont beat the Indians/Tigers, or the Red Sox. They have a chance against the Angels.
Its not insane, but its pretty unlikely. Its like saying that in last years NFL season that the Jaguars would win the Super Bowl. Good team, but they need to make the playoffs first, and even if they do, they arent equipped to go all the way. The Mariners need that one guy who is the team leader and the go to guy who can get the team through the playoffs, and its not Ichiro. They need a strong backbone to that team. Last years Cards had Pujols and Eckstein, the 05 White Sox had Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye, and the 04 Red Sox had Big Papi. Thats a big reason the Tigers didnt win it all last year, neither Pudge or Magglio stepped up in the World Series and pulled their team through it. For the Mariners, its not going to be Ichiro. If Richie Sexon gets real hot and goes to town, it could be him, but other than that, they dont have it.

It's not insane. Seattle is the hottest team in baseball right now and they're only a game and a half behind the Angels and a game behind the Indians for the Wild Card.
I personally don't think they'll win the World Series, but sure, it's possible.

Well, they are closer to first place in their division than the Yankees, and 5 ahead of them in the Wild Card standings, so I'd say October might be better in Seattle than in the Evil Empire!

OK, that person needs to be committed and diagnosed with a serious case of homeritis. Sure, they're lookin' pretty, but they won't cut the mustard against any potential playoff contender.
How 'bout dem Yankees?
