Like in the Pardres/Mets game.... the pitching coach came out to take out Joe Smith instead of willie randoph. why?

Could be for a variety of reasons. Possibly the pitching coach has some last minute advice to give to the one of the pitchers involved with the change or possibly Randolph is so disgusted with the yanked pitcher and prefers not to talk to him at that moment.

No. They always send the pitching coach out first to give the next pitcher more time to warm up. The sneakiest thing I ever saw was a manager changed the pitcher for ONE pitch and the next pitcher got the guy out! Talk about psychological warfare!!!

Because the pitching coaches job is to mainly manage the pitchers, so if they want to take them out of the game they can thats why they are the PITCHING coach.

The job of the pitching coach is to work with the pitchers and he works for and reports to the manager of the team. I am not aware of any profession where the employee can replace his boss.

it depends on the team, like the yankees, torre almost always takes the pitcher out, not the pitching coach.
