Maybe adding 4 more playoff teams making it to a total of 12

Personally, I think they should go back to no playoffs and simplying having the two best teams in each league go to the World Series. However, that is not going to happen so I would like it if the top team in each League got more of an advantage for being the top seed. So how about this.....
Add a second Wild Card team. Have the team w/ the best overall record in each league get a bye straight into the LCS. The two wild Card teams would play the two other Division winners in a one game playoff at the site of the Division winner. The winners of those 2 games would then play a best of 5 series to determine who would face the top seed in the LCS in a best of 7.
This would give the top seed 1 week off to set their line-up (ie pitching rotation) how they like and recover from injuries while the other teams would have to contend with all of these issues while still competing for the right to play in the LCS.
The one week layoff would be minimal and should not hinder the top seed and would give them an advantage that they earned by being the best team throughout the regular season.

Right now the problem is the wildcard team has it too easy. A wildcard team is a SECOND-PLACE team -- often it cruises into the postseason -- yet more often than it should, it ends up winning the World Series.

Either eliminate the wild card, and have the 2 division winners with the worse records play each other in the first round, while the division winner with the best record gets a bye (the rest gives it a real advantage for having the best record), or add a second wild card winner and have the two wildcards fight it out for the privilege of facing a rested division winner.

MLB would probably prefer the second, since it makes more TV money, but I'd prefer the first. Remember, until 1968 or so, there were NO playoffs -- just the NL and AL champions starting the world series a couple days after the regular season ended. You didn't have any 84-80 teams in any of those world series.

Yeah They should do away with it because it's not necessary .The pencil necked marketing geeks think it is ,because it generates revenue , But realistically speaking if after a154 -162 games one team has taken on all challengers many times and at the end of the season that team has won the most games , ,then it's blatantly obvious that that is the best team in the league.
Why does an inferior team that didn't play as well or work as hard get an opportunity to quickly negate the effort of the team the did work hard and played well ?.To what end ?
I don't know who baseball fans are politically, but there can't be that many hard core Socialists among them and that is what this is; egalatarianism applied to sport.
Dump the playoff system I say
Require that all World Series games be played in daylight ,
Get rid of that stupid DH rule
Above all reward excellence and not mediocrity.

No. I think they should eliminate teams. Let's get rid of the wildcard teams. They did not win their division so they don't deserve to be in the playoffs. I think that the team with the best record in the AL should play the best team in the NL for the World Series, just like in the past. Get rid of the seperate divisions and just have the NL and AL.

It is not a terrible idea, but the season is long enough as it is. Could you imagine sitting outside at a playoff game in November? Unless every team built a dome or added a retractable roof it will never happen.

NO!!! You have to work hard to make the playoffs right now. If you add more teams than there's bound to be some team who sneaks their way in with a lousy win total.

No.

That would make the playoffs WAY too long and the playoffs could go into late November or Early December!

The season is too long as it is best to leave well enough alone.
