DO you just sit here spouting off or do you ever take the time to do something about it .
After 35 years of writing letters and sending e-mails as government offices provided addresses for electronic mail do you feel you have any impact or like me that the machine moves on its path regardless of your efforts .
I continue to let them know what I think regardless .
Do you also take a moment or two out of your week to let them know or waste all your time here complaining .
If more people took the time maybe we could have an impact .

I waste all my time here...like you.

Addition: Lady Shondra is wrong wrong wrong. More "votes" were cast for the last AI...but surely you don't think that every one of those votes were by a single person. I mean...high schoolers don't vote from their cell phones more than once...do they?

Yup. Worked the Bush campaign in 2004 from Afghanistan and then from home. Worked state level campaigns in 2006 for the GOP and have already been requested by a couple of campaigns for the 2008 election.

I've sent e-mails and letters to both of the Senators that represent my state (TX)

I, like you, feel like 'the machine moves on its path regardless of your efforts' and I also send them anyway.

I often wonder if the American people themselves aren't becoming the gorilla in the room.

Let's continue to pound our chests with our fists, shall we?
And let's also continue to hope that enough others will join in to truly effect a change.

Send them letters!! I have been doing it for years and sometimes you can accomplish things. Example, the road in front of my house (rural area) has not really been worked on in 10 years and I started complaining harder and harder this year. Told them I'd keep going over their heads until it got repaired. Well, super big shock - they finally came out and tore it up and repaved it. So being a thorn does work every once in a while. I read once where a written letter is worth 10 phone calls to a politician. Besides, we can't give up. LOL.

Have worked in DC a long time, not, as a politician, but, for non-government organizations involved in politics. Most of what is here can be written off as nonsense, but, at times its interesting. John K., if you are, I'll bet you don't speak publicly what you pen here!

i am pretty much house bound but with today's technology, there is no excuse not to be involved.

first of all. i try to educated myself on the facts of an issue rather than let my political passion dictate my opinion.

also, i email, fax and call senators and reps when important issues are on the table.

i am on very limited income and have huge medical bills but i spent a good proportion of my monthly income on faxes to congress on immigration and the commutation for the border agents. well worth the sacrifice.

i also let them know that i appreciate their service to our nation....and that i am watching how they vote, their attendance etc...

most important, I VOTE. it is astounding to listen to many who constantly whine about the current administration when they did not even take the time to vote.

more Americans voted for the 'American Idol' than ever voted for a president.

Cons think buying oil and halliburton stock while wearing yellow ribbons and waving flags made in china is patriotic and "doing their part"
I've written a few letters and sign petitions I agree with. Most of my activism is my lifestyle. Boycotting products and companies who are the most abusive, driving a gas efficient car and not living in debt giving me more choices in the long run.

I don't work with any specific organizations, rather I focus on issue driven projects and working with others to get more people to take full advantage of their constitutional rights, especially the right to vote. Currently I will not work on any campaign, because as of yet I have not seen a viable candidate worth putting my support behind.

Complaining is a step in involvement. Raising awareness of a problem may help someone to come up with a solution.

Sometimes just venting is helpful, and sharing your dreams can lead others to help you act on them.

actually i am highly involved. i am a election poll manager for 6 yrs now. i am also infamous for writing my congressman. i am also a party member. without running, that is pretty involved. everyone should be involved at least in their local government. but i also understand many don't have the stomach for politics.
