It's a little boy standing in the baywindow during the scene where Ted Danson is talking to his mother about helping out with the baby. The claim is that the boy appeared in the scene after filming the movie and he was suppose to be a little boy who fell from the window of the apartment before the film was made. I know it's odd, but I had to rent the movie to see if I could see it and incredibly it's very clearly there. I was just wondering how many people knew about it.

Don't be a rube. It's just an urban legend.

In the final cut of the movie, there is a scene in which Ted Danson's character walks through the house with the baby. While doing so, they pass a large window and a dark shape that looks like a shotgun (barrel pointed down) is seen outside the window. When they pass in front of the window a second time, the figure of a boy can be seen reflected on the shower glass on the background. An urban legend exists that a boy killed himself (with a shotgun) during filming and that it was his ghost seen in the movie.

The "dead boy" was actually a cardboard cutout of Ted Danson's character [2] (though the rumor is still debated). This was first topic discussed on the first episode of "TV Land's Myths and Legends", and was referenced in episodes of Family Guy and Supernatural.

Other versions of the rumor are:

That the boy was the grandson of the rumoured "hanging man" in The Wizard of Oz.
The boy had been killed in the "flat" where the movie was filmed. In reality, it was filmed on a sound stage.

I worked at a video store back in the early 90s when that story first came out. We couldn't keep that movie in stock for weeks.

It's actually not a boy but a stand up of Ted Danson. There was never a boy that died on that set, as the movie wasn't shot on location, but on a film set.

During the scene where Ted is talking to his mother, asking for help in raising this child, if you watch it slowly, you can see the cutout in the drapes. It was placed there to put it out of the way, but they forgot it was there when they were filming.

Watch the movie again and pay close attention to the cardboard standup of Ted Danson in the tuxedo and top hat. That's what's hiding in the curtains in the scene you're talking about. (You can clearly make out the top hat.)

I've seen it too. Don't be fooled. What it really was was a cut out of a Ted Danson left by the window.

There is no ghost. It's just a cardboard cutout of Ted Danson...

No folks, it's a little boy! I have the movie and watched that scene like 10 times, and still framed it - it's a little boy. Gave me chills! Made my eyes water! Looks creepy!

I've seen it, some say it's the ghost of the boy and some say it's the son of one of the set people hiding.
