Everyone is always trying to figure out the best phone deals. Many of the top phone companies offer free person to person calling in the same network. If we all had the same network then we can call anybody for as long as we want and pay the very minimum. No more worries about going over minutes and most importantly low phone bills.

Because then that phone company would have a monopoly. Without competition they could charge whatever prices they wanted and if you wanted to have a phone then you'd pay it because you wouldn't have the choice of finding a better deal somewhere else. The monthly bills would be higher, not lower.

someone in politics thought something similar about pay and freedom of choice - i think he called it communism

healthy competition is good it keeps the prices down
