"Life is short" I know it means that death can come at any time, so don't worry about the smallest problems, but really, other than the Hundred Years War, I can't think of anything longer than a person's life.

"You can't have you cake and eat it, too." This sounds like the most ridiculous expression I have EVER heard. What is the point of having cake if we can't eat it? That's what it's there for, right? What are we supposed to do, let the cake go to waste?

The slang expressions Ihate use paired relative adverbs/adjectives--hot, cold; cool, uncool; hip, square.

They foist off a value opinion from nowhere onto someone, and they hurt the person labeled as cold, uncool or square with no evidence and not underlying definition being agreed to.

"my bad".

It contributes to the dumbing down of America by making the person who utters it sound completely uneducated, and whats worse, having others accept it as a part of our mainstream culture.

Saying something is "sweet" (or awesome) makes me want to ask, "you mean like a sugar cookie?"

GUESSTIMATE. That word is fine in third grade, but really, figure out what you're doing: are you guessing or are you estimating?
