My gyn just told me to take 3 cycles of clomid on the 5th day of AF for 5 days and then provera on the 15th day for 10 days...so am I supposed to think that I will have my AF these 3 months? Why should I have to wait 3 months to get pg or it is possible to get pg with this continuous medication....

i've read that if AF doesn't come with clomid, you should make a test and if its negative take the provera....but my gyn said nothing about that he told me to take the 3 complete cycles...i am pretty confused because if the clomid works I wouldn't know right? because i would take the provera and make my AF to come....HELP PLEASE!!!!!

i was hoping to get pg this month not in three months and i've been very sad since yesterday i found this out

I am very confused about your doctors orders. Clomid induces ovulation. Provera causes a withdrawl bleed. Typically this combo would be given to someone who wasn't having periods and then they would take 10 days of Provera and when their period started they would start the Clomid on day 5. Then wait and see if they ovulated and if so if they got pregnant. If they ovulated but didn't get pregnant they would have a normal period but if they didn't ovulate and a neg pregnancy test then start the Provera again.
The way your doctor has you taking it it is unlikely the Clomid will cause ovulation because it takes 5-14 days after the last Clomid pill for ovulation to happen. And once you start the Provera your ovaries won't release any eggs. And the use of Provera in pregnancy is a debated topic. Some doctors say it is perfectly safe and if you don't bleed after taking it then you are pregnant, but many others believe it causes problems with the fetus such as heart problems and genitalia problems. Most doctors won't give it to a pregnant woman anymore because there are better options.
If I were in your position I think I would call the drs office and simply ask them to check your chart or have the dr call you back that you wanted to be 100% sure about the instructions she gave you. I've had to do this so don't be embarassed to ask.
Then, if the instructions are correct you can either get a second opinion or trust that this dr has tried this before.

Hi Angela,

Okay you need to seriously call your doctor and make sure you two are on the same page. The way he/she has set up your medication schedule, you're not giving yourself enough time to conceive. The schedule you've described is for someone not wanting to get pregnant right away, but wanting to regulate herself first. Taking a Clomid/Provera combo for 3 months will regulate your cycle with the hopes that you will then regulate on your own after the 3 mos is up.

Does your doctor know you are TTC right now? Please make sure this is understood by him/her. Your doctor needs to clarify with you why he/she is not giving you time to see if you ovulated and got pregnant before starting the next round of Provera. Do you have some kind of condition where the Clomid wouldn't work right away? Without knowing your medical history it wouldn't be fair to assume your doctor is a quack (which I'm tempted to do, lol). Call and discuss it. If his/her explanation still doesn't sound right then you should consider getting a second opinion.

Good luck.
