Caladiums do well in the shade and there are many varieties that give a splash of contrast / color...such as white, pink or red on the leaves. If you are looking for something with an actual flowered bloom, try columbine. Mine are doing well...continuous buds and blossoms all summer with filtered morning sun and full shade the rest of the day.

impatiens, begonias, cyclamen, just to start with. Easiest thing is to go to the garden store and look at the labels. They'll all be marked for either sun, partial sun/shade, or shade.

Lantana is doing well for me with just a few hours of sun.
I love my elephant ears that are in full shade. They take a lot of water though.
