What does it mean to marbleize (sp?) someone? I know that it typically means you plan to beat them up but why "marbleize"?

This is a saying invented by British comedian Ken Dodd in the 1960's and should be 'marmalise', not 'marbleize'. He invented a fictitious place called Diddyland inhabited by Diddymen, diddy being an English slang word for anything small.

The Diddymen of Knotty Ash work the Broken Biscuit Repair Works, the Jam Butty Mines, The Moggy Ranch and the Treacle Wells. They all had names and one of them was Mick Marmalade who was always threatening to 'marmalise' people or, in other words, to give them a thumping.

(Knotty Ash is a district of Liverpool where Ked Dodd came from.)

Jam butties are jam sandwiches and a 'moggy' is a cat. Treacle is molasses. (For our American friends)
