so i'm on my period and i dont know how to use a tampon yet. today is the first day, and i have to go to florida on saturday. everyone swims in florida, right? so i just want to know if it hurts to use a tampon for the first time? i tried on my last period, and got the tampon all the way in me, but i just could push the cotton in without me crying from the pain. my mom told me that my vagina had never stretched that far before and it takes some time to get used to. i want to be able to swim in florida, but i don't want to be in pain while i use the tampon! does it hurt the second time you do it? and does VASOLINE help get it in and make it not hurt as much? please i need some advice. i am really worried.

P.S. please don't tell me what tampon to use, i already have the gentle glide SMALLEST size, and don't tell me to read the directions, cause i do it right. JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS ABOVE

Ok, well, it depends...Assuming your a virgin, yes, initially it will be a bit uncomfortable until you find out the best position to insert it. I know you don't want any tampon advice, but your going to get some....You may want to try the OB tampon. It has no applicator, so you would be using your own fingers for insertion. Not to be totally gross, but it helps to know your insides a bit, and allows you to control the insertion much better than the traditional tampon. Vasoline can be a pretty big irritant. It contains petroleum jelly that alot of women are allergic to. If you are going to use a lubricant, buy some KY jelly. It is intented for use in your vagina...Vasoline can just cause you addtl. irritation. We have all been there sweetie...relax, and tuck your string if you are going to be wearing a bathing suit!

Tampons take some time to get used to. I also know people that are never comfortable with tampons. Chances are though the more you use them, the more comfortable you will become. I would just make sure you change them often and try to get as used to them as possible if you want to be swimming in a few days. I never remember them hurting that bad. This may seem a little gross, but you want to make sure you have some blood in there for lubrication and that will help the tampon go in easier. So, don't clean the area too well until after the tampon is inserted. You can probably put a little vasoline on yourself before inserting the tampon. I don't think that would hurt anything. Just wipe it off after tampon is in.

Before you put in your tampon, put your leg on like a counter in your bathroom and stretch out your vagina. It will hurt for a while but if you just keep it there you will get used to it. Then leave your leg up take really deep breathes and then put in the tampon. The as you put your leg back down take a lot more deep breathes and then sit for a while. Then you should be fine.

I know you asked not to tell you what kind to use but the best kind to use is tampax pearls. They have a plastic applicator and a plastic "cover" over the cotton so it slides in very gently and doesn't hurt at all. The cotton tops is what is hurting. Just moisten yourself just a tad with spit and insert the pearl it will go in so easy you'll be ready for the next one. Good luck!

Tampons should NEVER hurt. Are you sure you are putting it in at the right angle? Try angling it towards your lower back.

Try KY jelly instead of vaseline. I think Vaseline could possibly cause infection if it was inserted into your body.

i've got faith which you may tell her the fact, she could no longer experience the comparable way approximately you anymore yet then you somewhat will understand that it wasnt meant to be. You cant lie approximately your age, the fact will come out ultimately and then issues are going to be lots worse. it could have been a diverse tale in case you have been 21 and he or she became 27.

Use KY Jelly to insert them, that avoids any pain while inserting. If you still need it to take it out then use KY Jelly to take them out.
