Here's three of my favourite bands/artists: 1. Rise against 2. Lacuna Coil (and last but not least (and very different to these)) is Damien Rice. Can you come up with a recent or classic album i could invest in this week? I was thinking about The Travelling Wilburys cuz i like the oldschool artists but then again i could always go for Air Traffic cuz they have a couple of stonking tracks that i've heard...but then again, i could get some fantastic advise and discover something special. Please help!

If not the Travelling Wilburys, try All Things Must Pass by George Harrison. It's a good classic triple album from 1970, with some good songs.

I recently bought a double CD featuring two albums by Nico called The Frozen Borderline. It features her 1967 album The Marble Index, coupled with The Desert Shore (1970). She plays the harmonium to some interesting songs.

If you really want to get your teeth into something old school try The Resurrection of Pigboy Crabshaw (1967) /In My Own Dream (1968) - 2 albums on a double CD by The Butterfield Blues Band, on Elektra.

The Wilbury's album is sick. (the first one) It's great from start to finish. That's by far the best super group of all time. But a new album that is great is the White Stripes. If you like led zep, you definitely like this. it has a fresh and new sound to it as well.

Brendan Benson is also a great artist. he has four lps out that are all golden. you can't go wrong with any of them. he has a sound similiar to the Wilbury's.

Tegan and Sara are also a group that has a new album out soon. i'm definitely picking that up. They are canadian sisters that have a really unique sound. They 2005 album is really good.

Those so much music man! I know how you feel. I wish people would give me some good recommendations too. i already have people on mtv and the radio trying to shove MCR and other similiar bands down my throat.

other picks would be...Of montreal or flaming lips.

those are all good selections with my personal guarantee!
(which means nothing)

Christ on a bike - buy the Air Traffic record. Really diverse, works over the entire album. The only fault with the record is that it's too loud and compressed, the sound quality is awful expecially compared with their early EPs. I'll keep it contemporary because there are hundreds of records I consider to be classic. Keep an eye on this band http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=90686823 - the next big thing, after Air Traffic of course; the first track is sublime.

Anyway, here's the best of this year (bar Air Traffic):

Dalek - Abandoned Language
Justice - Cross
Copia - Eluvium
Enter Shikari - Take to the Skies
Charlotte Hatherly - The Deep Blue

Why don't u check out youtube.com and type up the songs u like, u will have ur songs their with video clips. What i mean is that u don't have to waste ur money, u can save it, but if ur wanting to listen to the music while ur in the car, then yeah, thats a different story.

P.S. The bands/artists u mentioned above, i don't know any of them but if u really like them, then u should go and buy their CD's. Good luck!

Try one of these classic albums, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed with any of them - Sticky Fingers, Who's Next, Led Zeppelin 2, Revolver, Dark Side of the Moon or Disraeli Gears.

Elliot Smith - Figure 8. Tracks 13 & 15 are particularly nice.

if you like damien rice-have you any bell x1ireally recommendyou listen to them. the 3 albums i recommend are flock, neither am i and music in mouth. flock being their latest, damien rice was in this band originally. some songs are very slow and melodic like damiens but they also havea quirky rocky twist i love them and think they shoud be far more popular.

You say you could discover something special and I think you could. Try The Firebirds Doo Wop Volume One, just released on Rockville Records.

Old School recommendation:
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" Elton John
New School:
"Carry On" Chris Cornell
