Since this is in Mythology, and no one else bothered to mention anything mythological, just thought I'd point out the Ouroboro, it's a snake with a tail in its' mouth. It's well known for symbolizing something with no beginning and no end, often it symbolizes the world.

The obsessive, curious nature and alleged knowledge of the afterlife or life after death before death has even occurred. The obsession and fear with death and it's subsequent finality. The unknown cycle of life, death and rebirth. Is the absence of life's acquired knowledge actually death or is it just rebirth? To be as children once again.

Steven King's Rose Red. It's like 4 hours long and it doesen't get scary till like, two hours in. So it doesen't really have a beginning or an end.

Someone mentioned the ouroboro, i believe there was a type of ouroboro (if not THE one) in norse mythology, which was so large it could wrap itself around the world twice and put its tail in its mouth.
