I am going to be entering college in the fall. I need help choosing my major. I would like to major in Sociology/Social Studies ED with a Minor in African American Studies. Like I know most teachers don't make alot of cash, but it has been my passion for 5 years to teach and make a difference. I want to go in the right direction major wise so I can make alot of money and have other options besides teaching. If you have any suggestions please HELP!!!!!

You can definitely make a living off what you have chosen here. What I recommend, though, is not jumping into anything too hastily. Relax! You don't need to have your entire life mapped out when you first start college... you don't even have to have your major picked! Give it a year or so and test the waters. Work on some of your requirements, and take some interesting electives that interest you. Take a class or two in the areas you are interested in, but also try some different things. Also, talk to some career counselors at your school. If you are a student, it is free! After you take a class or two in your potential major and try some other things on for size, you'll have a better idea about what you would really enjoy doing. THEN pick a major, and go from there! Good luck, and congratulations on getting in!

What are you planning on doing with the AA History degree? Are you planning on teaching in a University? You know, after you get your degree you can always audit a class that you are really interested in. For example, I learned how to play the harp and I didn't get a degree in music.
