Why are you blaming Americans, we have no control over the media.

As far as Paris Hilton and the paparazzi -- Paris Hilton and many other celebrities USE the paparazzi to boost their popularity. They tip the paparazzi off as to where they are going to be so that they can be photographed. Then they get angry when the paparazzi find them somewhere where they don't want to be photographed. That's the part none of the celebs want to talk about. There are plenty of celebrities that you NEVER see in the tabloids, and that's because they've chosen not to use the press in that way.

As for why Americans are obsessed with celebrity, I don't think it's a trait that is uniquely American. Tabloids in some European countries are much more aggressive and popular. And other cultures, such as India and Japan, also get into a frenzy over their pop culture stars.

I don't think in general that Americans SEND the paparazzi anywhere. However, if we did not buy the papers and magazines that featured Paris Hilton then the paparazzi would not find it profitable to take pictures of her.

People are so hooked on celebs and reality TV these days it's insane. I could care less about Paris, but if I see something on her, I want to know if she fell on her face or see how stupid she's acting. It's a shame that celebs have so much money and people fawn all over them because it, and it's news if they do something irresponsible with their money or despite of their money. Why are the paparazzi so ruthless and mean in the UK?

Believe me, not all Americans enjoy such. Personally, I couldn't care less about Paris Hilton or the Paparazzi. I think they're both stupid. I guess it's, as they say, "like watching a train wreck"...............it's awful and you just can't look away. lol.

Maybe for the same reason that Europeans enjoyed papparazzi being all over Lady Di, to the point where they may have contributed to her death. Is that possible, Rafael? Geeesh!

Not any more than in Europe.
Did you miss the paparazzi following Princess Di just before she died?
