(x+y)/z the sum total of x+y divided by z
y*z y multiplied by z
a-b a minus b, or b subtracted from a
a+b a plus b, or a and b

either expressed as an equation or a ratio
a divided by b is equivalent to c divided by d
as a ratio...a is to b as c is to d

The first would be "x raised to the y power"

The second would be "x raised to the one-half power"

The 4th one, (x+y)/z, would be read as "the sum of x plus y divided by z"

y*z is "y times z"

Then, "a minus b"

"a plus b" or "the sum of a and b"

and the last one would be "a divided by b equals c divided by d"
