Living in the Northeast, I have become frsutrated by the great abundance of extreme liberals and communists up here and the crappy weather we get. I have even seen some people wear Che Guevara shirts up here, which crossed the line. I am planning on moving to Virginia or North Carolina, but I am not sure if it is any better down there. I doubt there are many communists and liberals down there, at least.

The education, weather, and people here suck, and it is nowhere close to good.

I hear ya. It sucks trying to have a legitimate conversation with someone. You say you're republican and they start yelling at you! Before you can even explain yourself or how you feel about anything. They just automatically assume you're the devil. Pretty much like the guy above me.^^^

I feel your pain.
I have family living in Wantaugh NY on Long Island and also some in upstate NY that are all conservatives, and they often talk about how goofy it is around there.

Like suthrnlyts said though, even our Democrats down here aren't all that bad. Even here in Atlanta.

Also in Atlanta you can get a nice house, like 3000 square feet on about a half acre for around $250K to $270K.
We all know that in places like NY or Boston a $250K house is basically a shack needing much repair. Not to mention the high property taxes. For that same house in Atlanta you'll pay around $2,000 a year in taxes.

I'll leave you with one thought though.

How many people have you heard of retiring and moving North? Not many if any.
Unfortunately southern Florida, one of my favorite places anywhere, is heavily concentrated with the Northern gimmecrat retirees. Ft Lauderdale and Miami have turned into little Boston.
The west coast of Florida is still pretty safe from gimmecrats though.

i just moved to NC from upstate new york. i can assure you, in most of NC and VA, things are a lot different.

i think part of the reason that the northeast has so many liberally minded people is how many small colleges are around.

colleges and universities are filled with political people. as the former president of the college libertarians, i saw a lot of people who were willing to commit to things that they don't truly believe.

part of what perpetuates it is how many ivy league and similar schools in the area.

but yeah, moving to NC and not living in the super-large cities will be a great way to have a change of pace. as long as you're able to handle the heat.

I live in one of the most neocon, fundamentalist states in this country. Though I am seeing the tide turning. I am not a neocon nor am I a religious fanatic. I live well here in spite of the differences. Like I said the tide is turning and it is wonderful the feeling of freedom that is settling in. I wish I could find compassion for you. The only thing I can suggest is you pull the 2x4 you have stuck in the most uncomfortable of places.

Move to the deep South.

You can watch NASCAR, drink some Bud, and talk about how great President Bush is.

And there's very little in the way of education in the South so you'll feel comfortable.

I do not know why?
I live in Mass, and Liberals control our state.
Look at our "leaders": Kennedy, Kerry, Clinton (NY), Barney Frank, Chris Dodd (CT), Chuck Schumer (NY).
Real leftists!!

Cities tend to be liberal and rural areas tend to be conservative. I imagine the Northeast has a greater concentration of large cities than the South does.

If you don't like it, then don't stay.

Are you capable of defining "Communist?" Or is it just a term you like to sling around believing it will offend?
