all soaps are slightly alkaline by nature mostly with ph of 9 to 10(7 being neutral) . the higher the ph the more efficient the soap at cutting greese however the farther you get from the natural ph of the skin (5.5) the more drying the soap. but on the flip side that is what soap is supposed to do cut the filth and grime off your skin. in my understanding after using a soap product, your skin immediatly begins to regenerate the natural oils it uses to protect its self with all oils in a healthy person being fully regained with in a few hours. most irritations people have from soap products are not a result of the ph per say but from artificial colorants or fragrance oils. my rcomendation is to try and use a product with natural colorants and pure essential oils or if your skin is very sensitive use a fragrance free and non colored soap. this information is on soap in general and not specifically related to your "down south issue" because all soaps are for external use only. and perhaps you need another product or to consult a physician if there is any foul odor accompanied by discharge.

All soaps are bases. They are on the other side of the scale away from acids so they won't burn your skin.

HOWEVER... you should be extra careful when using soap in the crotch area. You vagina cleans itself and using soap or douches upset the delicate balance that the vagina has. Only use soap on the outside on the labia majora and be careful not to let a lot of soap get past the outer labia. It's ok if it does, just wash it off immedietly.

Avon has a body wash called Simply Delicate that is gentle enough to use "down there".
I dont know where you live but in certain countries, you can find a body wash by Johnson and Johnson called pH 5.5 and it is very gentle so you can wash everywhere without worry of irritation.

I would use a natural, anti-allergy, chemically free soap.
