Find the amount when the base and percent are known

amount = base x percent

convert 1 % to decimal

remove the % symbol. Divide 1 by 100

1 / 100 = 0.01

Multiply 128 times the decimal

128 x 0.01 = 1.28

1.28 is 1 % of 128

move the decimal place 2 position to the left, consider the decimal point is at the end, so 1% of 128. becomes 1.28

So If you wanted to work out say 7%
128 divided by 100 = 1.28
1.28 x 7 = 8.96 (which is your 7%)

how much is 1% out of 128 = (1/100) * 128 =1.28

1 percent means one out of 100. In decimal form, it's 0.01

"of" in word problems means "multiplied by."

So 1% of 128 would be
(1/100)*128

Which is 1.28
