No need to do that, any fish that has been well fed over a period of time can last for 2-3 weeks without food.

Feeder goldfish are never a good idea for large cichlids though. They bring in a lot of parasites and diseases that can attack and kill your finny friends. It would be much better for your fish if you could switch them over to a pelleted cichlid food or frozen food like white fish or shrimp from the grocery.

I had 5 oscars in a 125 that were bankrupting me buying feeder goldfish. When I found out what a threat they were to my fish, I switched to feeding them dry, pelleted, high protein dog food. They enjoyed this every bit as much as the goldfish and grew until they were almost 14". I sold them at this point and lost touch with the new owner.

Many prized specimens have been killed by feeder goldfish that have brought in various diseases or internal parasites that were not apparent at the time of purchase or feeding.

2 days is fine to just leave the fish without food. Any well fed fish can live for a week or more without food. It is probably healthier for them to be left without food for a couple days... Also, you should just leave the tank lights off for the 2 days unless you have a planted tank that is full of plants that require extremely high amounts of light. Just make sure a little bit of natural light gets to the tank through shutters or blinds. Good luck!

leaving your fish for 2 days will be fine for them with out any food. Get a timer on your lights so you dont get excessive algae build up from leaving them on for 2 days. Goldfish are dirty fish and i like to stay away from feeding my fish feeder fish. they tend to be treated poorly in the store and have disease or parasites that i dont like introducing into my tanks. you can get an electronic feeder or use those weekend disolving feeders.

African cichlds are not piscavores, you shouldn't be feeding them goldfish at all.

These fish can go weeks without food - 2 days is a walk in the park. Just leave and don't worry about it.

No, that tank is already overcrowded. The cichlids should be kept in a tank of 20 gallons or bigger. The 2 corys can be put with any fish in the appropriate sized tank.

just leave them some pellets and don't over feed they will be fine and don't introduce new parasites and bacteria into your tank while you are not at home with feeders that come from the pet store. Spells trouble= new fish and the water they arrive in carry many diseases and they will only infect your healthy fish

I would just leave them, they will be fine for 2 days.Like another poster said feeder fish can carry some diseases and introduce them to your tank, depending on what cichlids you have feeder fish may not be the best diet for them anyway.I feed mine spirulina because they are mostly herbivore but it depends on what ones you have.

For two days they will be totally fine!! If it makes you feel better to throw some feeder fsh in there then go for it... Think of it this way, in the wild they may not eat for a week. Just do what you think is best for them.
Good Luck!!
Have fun where ever your going!!
