Neither contacts nor glasses will make you happy. I'd imagine you're young because your mother is making decisions for you that really shouldn't be up to her. Get LASIK surgery. It sounds crazy because they shoot lasers into your eyes, but it's amazing. It only cost me about $3,000, too. It sounds like a lot, but compare it to the amount you'd be paying for semi-annual eye exams and annual prescriptions. I have to go now, but you could email me and I'll tell you all about it. My email address is spider.2099@yahoo.com

I used to wear glasses, but now I wear contacts. I like them a lot better, and I can see better with them also. They don't hurt unless something is wrong with the actual contact (or you have an infection or something). And they might feel a little weird when you first put them in but you get used to it. Yes, I wear glasses and contacts because you can't wear contacts for very long periods of time, unless you have a certain kind of contact lenses. Contacts won't mess up your eyes in the future if you keep them clean and take care of them.

NO! Contacts are great. They don't hurt at all. It's a little weird at first, but touching your eye feels like touching your arm. While they are in, you almost never feel them there.
Contacts can actually be beneficial to your vision if you use them right. They can keep your vision from getting worse.
Yes, many people switch from contacts to glasses. Usually, I only wear contacts to school and a few other places, and wear glasses the rest of the time. You can do whatever you want, depending on what brand/type of contacts your eye doctor recommends.
As long as you keep everything steril, chances are you won't get an infection. Contacts are NOT bad for you, and will not mess up your eyes.
I love my contacts, and I think they make me look x10 better. I HIGHLY recommend them. Good luck! ^^

I think your mom is thinking about when contacts first came out. They did cause problems but now they have been around so long that they are pretty safe. You do have to be careful though and wash your hands and contacts and take care of them. If you don't follow the doctors instructions you could get eye infections or develop other problems. They also have had some problems with contact lens cleaning solutions.
They may take a little time to get used to but not long. If you take plastic wrap (saran wrap, food wrap) and fold it in half about 3 times, that is pretty much what contacts feel like.
There are many types of contacts talk it over with your mother and the doctor to decide which is best for you.
You don't have to wear them all of he time. I wear mine when I leave the house but when I'm home I just wear my glasses. I have daily lenses, so I do have to take them out every night but they do have extended wear which you can sleep in.
Here is a site that will give you information, there are many other sites too if you google contact lenses. http://www.allaboutvision.com/contacts/
Here is a site for your mother and you to both look at to help you make an informed decision. Good Luck.

there is nothing wrong in wearing contacts. my nephew is only 12 and is wearing them. if you follow the directions, you will be fine. they do not mess up your eyes in the future if you wear them the way you are supposed to wear them. At first they may bother a little but you get used to them and they don't "hurt", just a little different. And yes, some people wear both. Sometimes, your eyes get tired if you have been wearing the contacts all day.
Glasses are not all that bad. They do have cool glasses out there. But it's good to have choices. Wish you the best!

Contacts are not bad for you. You do need to clean your hands when you touch them. Also different contact are designed to be worn for different lengths of time. Dailies are the most convenient because you put in a fresh clean pair every day. It takes a couple of days to get used to putting them in (and taking them out), but you will get used to it. If you have dry eyes, contacts might make that feel worse, so wearing them from morning to night might not be the best idea for dry eyes. I wear glasses sometimes and contacts most of the time. There's no harm in going back and forth. Some days you just want to give your eyes a break and wear glasses.

I've been wearing contacts since I was 13 (I am 35 now) and have never had any infections.
They feel like nothing, but you must keep them clean and take good care of them. If you don't, they will get "deposits" on them. I wear disposible-soft contacts. With those, you should only wear them during the day and throw them out after two weeks of wear.
When you first put them in it is a bit uncomfortable, but you get used to them quickly.
You should switch off between contacts and glasses. It is good to give your eyes a break.

I have both, but prefer wearing my contacts as my glasses are a bit heavy (but I love the style). Contacts can be a serious pain in the butt sometimes...if you get an eyelash under them it's painful as hell, they can get dry and become uncomfortable (I have a friend with an eye drop addiction), they are fragile (I often end up with ragged edges - very uncomfortable - before they are due to be replaced. When swimming or around water, you are pretty much required to wear goggles or risk loosing a contact. if you sleep with them in, it can go from uncomfortable and dry to downright painful. Still, I mostly wear my contacts (I have light sensitive eyes, and will not get transition lenses - dorky - or pay extra just for prescription sunglasses), but did go through a spell last year where I wore my glasses for more than a month straight while waiting on my replacement contacts.

When you go to the eye doctor he will see how you do with contacts if you are very sensitive then maybe glasses are best. Sometimes my eyes get irritated and I use my glasses I only need them to see far away though I dont know what eye site you have. But ask the eye doctor, and no contacts are not bad for you.

There are many good and bad things about contacts, but they shouldn't have to be uncomfortable. Sadly, for some people they are.
Contacts are great because they focus your entire field of vision, which is important for driving and sports. They also don't slide down your nose like glasses, and they don't fog up. Contacts will match anything you wear, and they allow people to see your natural eye colour.
It's really a personal decision. Good luck!
