As a black man I am getting tired of hearing that the media is trying to make Vick look bad. Every understanding and rational black man knows that his negative attributes and actions will be magnified more than many others, especailly when he is well known to the public, and this idiot is no exception. If he didn't know that then shame on him.
If you really believe that dog fighting is no different than betting on baseball you need to examine your head for soft spots. One is involves cruelty to a living being while the other has to do with greed that is not physically hurting an indivdiual.
Vick did something wrong. He is a multimillion dollar athlete. He deserves the scrutiny of the media circus that he helped feed.

Why do you bring race into the issue. It has nothing to do with the matter at hand. I have always felt that people use the race card because they can not come up with anything else to justify their position. In this case there is no comparison between betting on baseball and running a dog fighting/gambling ring across state lines.
The allegations are very serious and there is overwhelming evidence. I mean they are still digging up dogs on the Vick's premises as we speak. If the allegations are correct, we are talking about a real sicko here with the cruelty that was done to these animals.
Vick is a high profile person and will make the news. Get over it and pull your head out of the sand.
Also, since you are interested in race, please move to New Orleans which was proclaimed 'The Chocolate City as ordained by God' by our racist black mayor. You two would really get along quite well.

I don't think that the fact that Michael Vick is black has much to do with the parade of escapades he is famous for. The media made Michael Vick and now they are going to un-make him. This suits me just fine. Anytime an athlete in the public eye screws up, he or she is going to be pounced on by the media. This should teach the lesson that if you are a public figure you should have sense enough to obey the law. Michael Vick seems to believe that he is above the law and should be given preferential treatment. Wrong. Dogfighting is a despicable "sport". I hope they hang him. There are too many truly successful black men and women who get no credit for their contributions to society. I really think that one's race is not a criteria for judging worth as a person. Nobody is picking on Mr. Vick because he's black. It's because he is an egotistical felon.

You're an idiot.
How can you compare murdering animals and using them in a violent pseudo-sport with betting on a game. There are no lives involved. The Chris Benoit thing is also a terrible event, but there isn't as much media because he isn't the face of his "sport".
Dogfighting is inhumane and barbaric. It's illegal in 48 states, including Virginia. The fact is, he's a celebrity who broke a law. It isn't getting any more coverage nationally than Paris Hilton did, and last time I checked, she was a rich white girl.
Quit blaming the media for Michael Vick's stupidity. Start worrying about your own stupidity.

I'm with Terrance on this one. The guy (Vick) just doesn't get it. First, he heaves the bird to the fans - the same people that pay his salary. Then he gets CAUGHT with a bong in an airport? (allegedly a bong, but we all know it was)....Now "Ookie" is tied up and allegedly a 'ringleader' according to another black man witness to these dog fights, etc. and it's racism? Pullleeeeaazzze.....that card gets dropped when a black lineman is moved to second team behind a white all pro. Hate to use this saying (but I will), simply put, "That dog don't hunt".....
A Federal Grand Jury doesn't go on witch hunts unless they have probable cause. Witnesses, evidence, etc. The fact that Mike Vick allegedly did all this is insignificant. If Peyton Manning would have done it, people / PETA / et al would be throwing him under the bus, too. True, Vick is innocent until proven guilty, but it ain't looking good for him right about now. IF (emphasis added) he is able to prove he did nothing wrong, don't you think every away game is going to turn into a 'dawg pound' complete with 'who let the dogs out' music? In my mind, he is DONE with pro football in America. Sorry dude, you were great and we'll all never forget that sprint to win the game versus Minnesota (except Viking fans), but you hung with bad choices and apparently didn't know right from wrong.

Pete Rose is a selfish ***, Chris Benoit is probably in hell paying for his sins, my husband and I support Barry Bonds completely and feel he is being treated unfairly.
Mike Vick is an inhuman savage. You should read all of the facts about his part in what has been done to those animals and then you will realize that he has made himself look bad because he is bad.
This poor misunderstood black man deserves to be locked in a room with the animals that he has abused so he can experience some of what his victims have.
Are you a black man who uses your color as an excuse for not being successful? Or is it because there are just too many white people where you work so you can't catch a break?

I know this isn't what you want to see here, but I actually think the opposite is true more often than not.
I think people, in general, are happy to see a successful minority who will inspire other minorities to succeed and become a positive influence on everybody, minority or not. When the example they set for others becomes negative, and even illegal, what is society and law enforcement to do? Do you WANT children to see that having money means you can do illegal things without consequence?
The investigation went on for months and was kept as quiet as possible until they made the decision to indict.
What he's accused of is too horrible to ignore - I don't care who or what color he is.
I hope he's innocent, by the way. Why someone with so much going for him would have anything to do with such a disgusting, barbaric thing is baffling.

Mike Huckabee appears to be a breath of fresh air among the Republican candidates but recent news stories about his tenure as Governor certainly does make you take a second look. To be fair, the negative press has not been coming from any of the democratic candidates but from the Romney and Rudy camps. If the news reports are true, the Clinton campaign would probably love to face him in a general election. He does seem like a truly nice guy and he does have Christian values that are sometimes trumped by Political concerns.

Oh I don't know why They would want to make him look bad!Maybe because hes a lowlife that hangs out with lowlifes.Being black has nothing to do with it.Its the blatant disregard for life that throws everyone for a loop. How those dogs were treated and killed makes me and others sick to the stomach. He has millons of dollars and chooses to do these things or at least associate with people who do.To be honest its a sad day when peple like you say that they dont know what the big deal is.Would you want your kid running around eletrocuting dogs. I mean a successful black man in his position is a role model and should be helping not abusing sometthing that cant even defend themselves. He is a wannbe ghetto idiot who should be an embaressment to the african american race.So much power to change things and look what he does with it.

It's shocking because he horrible abused and killed animals for profit. It is worse on betting on baseball, Pete Rose just spit on the game. He wasn't harming life. The media isn't making Vick look bad, it's his poor life choices. If your theory was true, how come they didn't go after Micheal Jordan. He was betting and it was swept under the carpet. He's a successful black man. Your racist view point will hold you back in life. It's blinding you and making you sound ignorant.
